Good discussion on LinkedIn

Post by Ted-Pencry on 21/1/2014, 08:40

On the CPD group on LinkedIn there is a good discussion on the PI exam.
If you want the SIA PI licence IMHO it is best to wait for the SIA to come to a decision before paying for training.

You can follow the discussion by clicking here

Good discussion. Don`t make the same mistake as I did 12 months ago and pay for a PI course that effectively is worthless, although I did learn from it I can`t apply for the licence from it. Anyone who undertakes any form of Surveillance will need the licence.

I know ISS Training is now offering the PI course that will be accredited for the future SIA licence -

6 Day Professional Investigators Level 3 Award For SIA Licence

Details

  • Duration:6 Days
  • Qualification:Level 3 in Professional Investigation
  • Other Details:Costs: £990.00 + £40 assessment fee = £1030.00 + VAT = £1236.00 (£250.00 deposit required)

Key Skills Learnt

  • Private Investigation
  • Process Serving
  • General Enquiries
  • Open Source Intelligence
  • Statement Taking
  • Digital Photography
  • Legislation
  • Tracing
  • Report Writing
  • Interviewing

Suitable for…

  • This course is suitable for those entering the investigation industry.

  • All relevant topics are covered to obtain an SIA Private Investigators Qualification Licence but the course far exceeds the minimum requirements and standards.

This Level 3 Award for Professional Investigators is based on the SIA specifications of core competency training for Private Investigators. This six day course far exceeds the minimum requirements set by the SIA, which is a minimum of 39 guided learning hours.
The staff at ISS Training have been conducting surveillance and investigations for many years and the instructors teaching this course have a wealth of operational experience from the private sector and Police Service.
Topics will include:
Principles of planning and reporting investigations
Know how to establish the objectives and ongoing feasibility of an investigation
Know how to deal with actual or potential conflicts of interest
Know how to report and present the finding of an investigation
Principles of gathering and using information for investigations

Know how to research and analyse information in support of an investigation
Know how to interview people to gather information
Know how surveillance can be used to gather information
Understand how to maintain the security and confidentiality of information gathered.
Understand relevant Health and Safety issues.
Subject Matter and Content

This course not only covers the basic standards required to obtain a Private Investigators licence but also covers additional and useful skills to operate as an effective investigator. These topics are covered in some depth:

  • Private Investigation
  • Process Serving
  • General Enquiries

  • Have a Level 3 Award in Professional Investigation

We will be conducting a 6 day course to meet these requirements.
Any previous qualifications that are security or investigative related will not be accepted by the SIA but you will need the Level 3 PI Award. However, if you feel competent or experienced, you will be permitted to just sit the assesment test after providing evidence of such work (to be clarified shortly).
We will also be conducting 'Assessment Days' where you will be able to undergo a period of revision and then sit the assessment in the same day.
We will be publishing further details for the Assessment Days in due course.
