Dubai Government Female CP Unit
In the All male dominated country, Dubai’s Department of Protective Security and Emergency, has selected women from its Department to form an All-women team for VIPs. They are hand picked by the department to be the body guards for all VIPs like ministers, celebrities etc visiting Dubai.
Female bodyguards at the VIP Protection unit of Dubai Police have recently undergone intensive training to hone their skills. The 40 women who form the unit underwent three training sessions during the past three months and were tutored by experts from the UAE, France and Switzerland.
According to Lieutenant Masoud Ibrahim Al Hamad, the bodyguards have proven their mettle during the training. "They underwent very difficult training but they all appeared to relish the challenge," he said.
Considered the only such professional women's unit in the Gulf the outfit was launched around 10 years ago to protect female VIP's who may not feel comfortable in the constant presence of male bodyguards.
Lt Al Hamad said that their first course was on shooting and was under the supervision of French experts.
The second one was conducted by local experts during which they were taught abseiling. This particular course, which took five weeks, was considered the first of its kind in the region.
The third training course was on protection and shooting and was held under the supervision of
Swiss experts.

The first all-women quick response team is the brainchild of Brigadier Mohammad Eid Al Mansouri, Director of the General Department of Protective Security and Emergency Department of Dubai Police.
"They are the pioneers – the first such team in our department. Their job is to protect VIPs in Dubai. We are proud of this well-trained female team that can be assembled at a short notice to protect female VIPs round-the-clock. They work hand-in-hand with their male counterparts."
According to Brigadier Al Mansouri, the number of all-women quick response teams will increase. "We’re concentrating on Emiratis. We’re trying to spread security education in schools among the younger generation to encourage them to step in and face challenging jobs such as this. Old notions about women’s role have changed in the country. Women can be found in different fields today," he said.
"These women have been chosen due to their desire, courage, fitness and enthusiasm for the job. The female cops are dedicated to accompanying well-known figures and stars who visit Dubai or the ruling family members abroad," Brigadier Al Mansouri added.
