Britam Defense Ltd involved in Syria? Empty Britam Defense Ltd involved in Syria?

Post by Ted-Pencry 1/9/2013, 10:49

An article on 29 January reported allegations on the internet that the US Government had backed a plot to launch a chemicals weapons attack in Syria and blame it on the Assad regime.

The reports made reference to an email said to have been from David Goulding, the Business Development Director of Britam Defence, to company founder, Philip Doughty. The email had been published on the internet after Britam’s computer system was illegally hacked in Singapore. It referred to a proposal that Britam would deliver chemical weapons to Syria for enormous financial reward and suggested that the directors were willing to consider the illegal proposal.

We now accept that email was fabricated and acknowledge there is no truth in any suggestion that Britam or its directors were willing to consider taking part in such a plot, which may have led to an atrocity.
We apologise to each of them and have agreed to pay substantial damages.

An attack on Syria seems imminent.

The UK has refused to take action rightly so but France and the US are to attack soon so it seems.
Apparently Bachar Al-Assad used chemical weapons against his own citizens.
How can France and the US be so sure about this at this stage?

How can we be sure Bachar Al-Assad did this and that it was not somebody else in order to blame Assad for it?

Britam Defense Ltd, a British company, was involved with the US on a plan to launch a chemical weapon attack on Syria according to an old article on the mail online, the mail then said it was not true and took the article off their website.
The article was published on the 29th of January 2013 by the Daily Mail.

Click the link now and it has gone:
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2270219/U-S-planned-launch-chemical-weapon-attack-Syria-blame-Assad.html

But nothing is ever lost on the internet and using software to get the article back brings it back up (I will post the original article at the bottom of this post)

Here is the original article that was published by the daily mail:

U.S. 'backed plan to launch chemical weapon attack on Syria and blame it on Assad's regime'

  • Leaked emails from defense contractor refers to chemical weapons saying 'the idea is approved by Washington'

  • Obama issued warning to Syrian president Bashar al-Assad last month that use of chemical warfare was 'totally unacceptable'

Leaked emails have allegedly proved that the White House gave the green light to a chemical weapons attack in Syria that could be blamed on Assad's regime and in turn, spur international military action in the devastated country.

A report released on Monday contains an email exchange between two senior officials at British-based contractor Britam Defence where a scheme 'approved by Washington' is outlined explaining that Qatar would fund rebel forces in Syria to use chemical weapons.

Barack Obama made it clear to Syrian president Bashar al-Assad last month that the U.S. would not tolerate Syria using chemical weapons against its own people.

According to Infowars.com, the December 25 email was sent from Britam's Business Development Director David Goulding to company founder Philip Doughty.

It reads: 'Phil... We’ve got a new offer. It’s about Syria again. Qataris propose an attractive deal and swear that the idea is approved by Washington.

'We’ll have to deliver a CW to Homs, a Soviet origin g-shell from Libya similar to those that Assad should have.

'They want us to deploy our Ukrainian personnel that should speak Russian and make a video record.
'Frankly, I don’t think it’s a good idea but the sums proposed are enormous. Your opinion?
'Kind regards, David.'

Britam Defence had not yet returned a request for comment to MailOnline.

The emails were released by a Malaysian hacker who also obtained senior executives resumés and copies of passports via an unprotected company server, according to Cyber War News.

Dave Goulding's Linkedin profile lists him as Business Development Director at Britam Defence Ltd in Security and Investigations. A business networking profile for Phil Doughty lists him as Chief Operationg Officer for Britam, United Arab Emirates, Security and Investigations.
The U.S. State Department had not returned a request for comment on the alleged emails to MailOnline today at time of publication.

However the use of chemical warfare was raised at a press briefing in D.C. on January 28.
A spokesman said that the U.S. joined the international community in 'setting common redlines about the consequences of using chemical weapons'.

I very much doubt guys with that type of background and children at home would have done something like that and accept to help kill hundreds of innocent civilians for money.

Especially ex British elite soldiers.

I say no way, someone probably tried to frame Britam defense and destroy them.

It would be the end of the world if it was all true as that would mean there is absolutely nobody to trust in this world. Nobody at all. If you can't trust ex British elite soldiers with families at home, who can you trust?

I refuse to believe all that....

I hope you are right Ted, as you say something like this, if it were true, would be very bad for the Western world and everything we stand for, the repercussions are unimaginable!
I agree the most probable explanation is a rival company, or even a Country, trying to frame Britam Defence.

From the below information produced by the hacker, we can clearly be certain that Britam was hacked and that confidential information was taken from them by the hacker.
Britam Defense Ltd involved in Syria? Britam10
Britam Defense Ltd involved in Syria? Britam11
Britam Defense Ltd involved in Syria? Captur10

Britam Defense Ltd involved in Syria? Captur11
Britam Defense Ltd involved in Syria? Captur12

Britam Defense Ltd involved in Syria? 21ad4k11

Now regarding the email which is the most important thing, it seems to be a fake because another email came out with the heading "Iranian Issue".

Not a chance Britam would talk about sensitive matters via email, especially after Stratfor being hacked. And not a chance they would be doing such big ops in Iran and Syria at the same time. There is no way such a high level company would discuss matters such as these via email.

Britam Defense Ltd involved in Syria? Empty Re: Britam Defense Ltd involved in Syria?

Post by Ted-Pencry 1/9/2013, 15:57

The Daily Mail has apologised and paid £110,000 in libel damages to a London defence firm it wrongly linked with an alleged chemical weaponsplot in Syria.

Britam Defence Limited complained that an article on the Daily Mail's website Mail Online falsely accused two of its executives of conspiring in a "nefarious and illegal plot" in the Middle Eastern state "for enormous financial reward".

The article quoted one email supposedly sent between two executives at the company which claimed to show that Britam had agreed to supply chemical weapons to Homs for use in an attack. However, the emails turned out to be forged.

In a statement at the high court in London on Wednesday, a lawyer for Britam said its founder, Philip Doughty, and its business development director, David Goulding, had "suffered considerable distress and embarrassment" over the article.

Adam Tudor, a solicitor at law firm Carter-Ruck, said on behalf on Britam: "The emails were not written or sent by the claimants (or by anyone at Britam Defence Limited or anyone associated with them), and the illegal hacking of Britam Defence's website remains the subject of a criminal investigation.

"The claimants had no involvement in any chemical weapons plot and would never contemplate becoming involved in the heinous activities which were the subject of the article."

Daily Mail publisher Associated Newspapers agreed the six-figure libel settlement after accepting that the emails were fabricated and that the allegation of a chemical weapons plot was untrue.

Martin Wood, for Associated Newspapers, said in a statement before the judge, Mrs Justice Nicola Davies: "My lady, on behalf of the defendant, I confirm that the defendant offers its sincere apologies to the claimants for the damage and distress caused by the publication of these false allegations, which had appeared on US websites.

"The defendant acknowledges that the emails in question were completely fabricated and that there is no question of any of the claimants being involved – or even considering becoming involved – in the heinous actions to which the article referred. The defendant is pleased to set the record straight."

The case is the second six-figure libel payout by Associated Newspapers in under a week. Last Thursday, the Daily Mail paid £125,000 in damages to the TV psychic Sally Morgan over an article that made an untrue allegation that she had used a hidden earpiece to deceive a theatre audience.

Honestly mate, just by reading the e-mail, you understand it is grossly forged.

BTW who would give such instructions by e-mail ??? Everyone here will agree, even the most slightly sensitive stuff is always communicated by Skype or face to face but NEVER by e-mail.
E.g. how would you report to your colleagues that you have an issue with the client/another colleague/the local justice ? By e-mail ???

I can't believe the public would be stupid enough to believe that...

Britam Defense Ltd involved in Syria? Empty Re: Britam Defense Ltd involved in Syria?

Post by Ted-Pencry 2/9/2013, 08:56

Nothing sensitive is ever talked about via email, neither by phone or sms or even Skype.
Just so you know Woe, Skype used to be considered safe a few years ago as it is all encrypted.

Did you know that Skype was purchased by Microsoft in 2011?
Did you know that Microsoft works with the NSA?

Edward Snowden leaked a shit load of documents.

The documents provided by Snowden showed that Microsoft secretly worked with the NSA to help the agency tap into its email and chat services, including Outlook.com and Hotmail

Documents showed that work began on integrating Skype into the NSA’s Internet surveillance program PRISM in November 2010, several months before Microsoft purchased the service from U.S. private equity firms. By February 2011, the NSA was able to monitor Skype audio calls. In addition, by July last year, the NSA reportedly boasted that a new capability had tripled the amount of Skype video calls being collected through PRISM.
These details compound recent revelations about Skype’s cooperation with the U.S. government. Last month, the Post reported that the NSA has a “User’s Guide for PRISM Skype Collection” that outlines how it can eavesdrop on Skype “when one end of the call is a conventional telephone and for any combination of 'audio, video, chat, and file transfers' when Skype users connect by computer alone.” About two weeks later, the New York Times reported that, five years ago, before Microsoft acquired Skype, Skype initiated an internal program called “Project Chess” to explore how it could make Skype calls readily available to the government.
Below, you can find a timeline of everything we now know—both Skype’s public statements and the newly released details about behind-the-scenes dealings with the NSA. The secret dealings are indicated with brackets, and the results are striking.
June 2008: Skype, while owned by eBay, goes on record saying it can’t help law enforcement agencies eavesdrop on users’ conversations because of its “peer-to-peer architecture and encryption techniques.”
[Unknown month, 2008: Secretly, Skype initiates an internal program called “Project Chess” to explore how it could make Skype calls readily available to intelligence agencies and law enforcement officials, according to the New York Times.]
September 2009: Skype is purchased by an investor group including two U.S. private equity firms Silver Lake and Andreessen Horowitz in partnership with the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board.
[November 2010: Work begins on integrating Skype into the NSA’s PRISM surveillance program, according to the Guardian.]
[Feb. 4, 2011: Skype is served with a directive to comply with NSA surveillance signed by the U.S. attorney general, according to the Guardian.]
[Feb. 6, 2011: Skype joins the PRISM program and the NSA begins spying on Skype calls. The agency reports that "feedback indicated that a collected Skype call was very clear and the metadata looked complete," according to the Guardian and theWashington Post.]
May 2011: Microsoft announces it is purchasing Skype for $8.5 billion.
June 2011: Microsoft obtains a patent for “legal intercept” technology designed to be used with services like Skype to “silently copy” communications.
[July 2012: The NSA boasts that a new capability has tripled the amount of Skype video calls being collected through PRISM, according to the Guardian.]
July 20, 2012: Skype refuses to answer repeated questions about whether it can or cannot comply with government surveillance.
July 26, 2012: Skype’s Mark Gillett writes a blog post dismissing media reports about Skype eavesdropping, which he says “we believe are inaccurate.”
March 2013: Microsoft publishes a transparency report claiming that it handed over the content of zero Skype communications in 2012. The company also claims that “Skype continues to operate under Luxembourg law.”
June/July 2013: The Guardian, the Washington Post, and the New York Times expose the extent of Skype’s collaboration with the U.S. government on surveillance.
All of these details provide significant insight into how the NSA is able to monitor Skype video and audio chats, shedding light on the likely reason why the company refused to answer questions last year about its eavesdropping capabilities. In 2008, Skype was happy to go on record saying that it could not monitor chats due to its encryption, but that policy clearly changed after the PRISM cooperation began in 2011.
In addition, the documents revealed by Snowden call into question false public statements made by Microsoft regarding Skype and its security. The standout example of this is the claim in its transparency report that it handed over the content of zero Skype communications in 2012. But the company also deceptively stated in its transparency report that calls made between Skype-Skype users were encrypted peer-to-peerimplying that they did not pass through Microsoft’s central servers and could not be eavesdropped on. Indeed, prior to the disclosure of the secret NSA documents, Skype’s Mark Gillett even had the audacity to accuse journalists raising questions about its eavesdropping capabilities of misleading Skype users about “our approach to user security and privacy.”
Microsoft said in an emailed statement that it “does not provide any government with blanket or direct access to SkyDrive, Outlook.com, Skype or any Microsoft product.” But it should be clear now that users should not consider Skype a secure means of communication. Making an international call by Skype is still probably a moderately safer bet than making an international call by an unencrypted landline or mobile phone. But activists, journalists, and others who want to ensure that their communications remain confidential should not take a gamble with Skype or any other Microsoft service—and should instead turn to a more secure alternative.

I totally agree Ted, I was just speaking of the lowest, most basic level of sensitive info (e.g. : as a contractor, how to tell my management that the client is making a huge mistake, etc... that sort of stuff).

That just shows how stupid this manipulation about Britam is.
