Overview
The British Red Cross helps people in crisis, whoever and wherever they are.

We are part of a global voluntary network, responding to conflicts, natural disasters and individual emergencies. We enable vulnerable people in the UK and abroad to prepare for and withstand emergencies in their own communities. And when the crisis is over, we help them to recover and move on with their lives. Within the UK, the British Red Cross operates through about 3000 staff and over 30,000 volunteers. Geographically, the UK is organised into 22 areas, which are grouped into 4 Territories.
The British Red Cross is one of the premier actors in the Red Cross Movement and is seeking to further grow our capacity and ability to support other components of the Movement.

To maintain effective security and safety management in British Red Cross operations by providing advice, support and training to the field both in the UK and overseas and UK-based personnel on security and safety issues, with the aim of maintaining high standards in security and safety awareness, management and practice, in order to minimise risks to staff and thereby contribute to more effective programmes. To alert British Red Cross senior management to threats arising as well as non compliance with security and safety procedures and to recommend appropriate action.

To ensure that British Red Cross security documents and procedures are coherently in line with the organisation’s overall health and safety policy. The post holder will need to maintain a close working relationship with the British Red Cross Health and Safety Adviser.
