Security Operations Director (Garda World)
Reporting to the Manager Director, Emerging Markets
Place of work/Travel:
Initially in Mexico, and once the business is established, additional frequent travel (approx. 20 days per month) to Haiti, Colombia and the USA.

Internally: GardaWorld President and Senior Management
Externally: Clients, authorities, local relationships and service providers.
Job Outline:
GardaWorld is seeking a Director, Security Operations for its Latin America Business. The Director will initially establish and grow the business in Mexico, and then once established inherit an existing portfolio of clients across the region including the Canadian Government, NGOs and large multinational corporations in Haiti and Colombia.
The Director, and the team he/she will build over time will provide leadership through an insightful and detailed understanding of the existing market in line with GardaWorld’ s competitive business strategy.
The Director will maintain and grow existing LatAm commercial relationships, and will possess an in depth cultural understanding of the region. The position requires the individual to communicate with senior government representatives and senior management within multinational corporations, providing confidence in GardaWorld while demonstrating individual industry credibility.
Financial responsibility for the position includes management of multi-million dollar projects and “full ownership” of the business units. The Director will manage the profit and loss, annual budget and will maintain oversight of a highly active business pipeline.
The successful individual will be required to work closely with the MD Latin America and consult with,and be supported by, the Commercial Support Team for Latin America.
The successful candidate will be: dynamic and at the peak of his/her career; highly educated and with a blue chip professional career history; a natural leader; be hungry for success and also be a strong networker who understands political senstivities. Day to day security operations are run by ex-military professionals and so this person, although retaining resppnsibility, should be more focused on the commercial leadership of the business.
Competences:
Fluent English and Spanish speaker
The ability to plan, implement and maintain multimillion USD projects
Ability to convert initial client contact into tangible business
Leadership experience of managing and empowering a large team of expatriate and local national staff
Minimum 3 years LatAm experience
Former military/government security experience preferable but not required
Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills in order to convey complex messages across a wide ranging audience
Ability to produce complex conceptual written proposals and operational documents
Must have the ability to cost and present financial details in order to manage budget
Must be proficient in MS Office in order to present and accurately maintain internal and external reporting requirements
