Security manager United nations in Geneva PT_PIXEL_FRA_1Acts as first line supervisor of a team of security officers by providing  guidance through the dissemination of  instructions and the issuance of operational orders, and by monitoring compliance with standard operating procedures. 
- Monitors  the team’s actions in access control tasks -  including the identification and security screening of incoming pedestrians and the inspections of vehicles – as well as in indoors and outdoors preventive patrols aimed at maintaining public order. 
- Supervises traffic and parking control activities carried out by the team inside the UN grounds.  
- Prepares and submits reports related to the above-mentioned activities and contributes in the presentation of relevant statistics. 
- Participates in the performance appraisal of staff under the incumbent’s responsibility. 
- In response to complaints of physical or verbal aggression, as well as of theft, loss or damage of UN property, makes initial assessments of the situation, takes statements , conducts preliminary inquires and draws up the related fact finding reports. 
- Provides advice to staff members and, as necessary, takes preventive action to forestall losses, damage or theft; in this sense acts at all times as source of guidance and information to delegates, visitors and staff members, using the documents and files at his/her disposal. 
-If assigned to the Security Control Centre , supervises the work of the security staff therein assigned by ensuring the optimal exploitation of  security equipment, mainly CCTV surveillance and alarm systems. 
- The incumbent is expected to be able to supervise a team in registration and badge issuing tasks 
-May be called upon to take charge of organizing all or some basic or refresher training or the training of the new security officers. 
-May be called upon to assist the Unit Chief in verifying security officers attendance, drawing up leave schedules and duty lists and compiling periodic reports. 
-Takes responsibility for the equipment assigned to  security posts under his/her supervision and may receive additional responsibilities in regard to the custody and administration of the Service's equipment and materials. 
-Within short notice may be assigned to act as squad leader at one the Palais' main annexes, or to take up an operational team during  weekends, holidays, or nights. 
-Participates on missions or at conferences outside Switzerland and acts as lead security supervisor for conference or special events in UN grounds 
-At any time and without previous notice may be called upon to temporarily perform tasks of higher level.  
-Within the framework of existing rules and regulations, may be called upon to perform other functions or tasks compatible with his or her responsibility, anytime or in any place, including during off-working hours, in accordance to the needs of the Section. 
-Engages in permanent professional development by participating in both in-house  and external training programmes with  a view to achieve and maintain the needed versatility to assume multifaceted assignments. 

Must be mentally and physically fit.  All duties are performed in uniform; however, at times the officer may be required to perform duties in civilian clothes. Duties may require long periods of standing. The officer is required to obtain and maintain appropriate host country licenses, including, but not limited to, pistol and vehicle operator licenses. Officers are also required to meet all UN firearms qualification standards.
