Ambrey Risk is looking for 1 x Project Manager/ 2 x Deputy Project Managers to work in southern Iraq alongside a major oil and gas company training the local guard force. This is a 3 year contract working a 8/4 rotation with favourable salary which is negotiable based on experience and qualifications.
The following skills and experience are essential for this role:

  • Recent experience and comprehensive understanding of the DSAT system.
  • Working knowledge of Arabic Language; colloquial or Linguist preferred but not essential.
  • Experience of working in the Middle East.
  • Understanding and experience in the UK training accreditation process (C&G/Edexcel/Highfield).
  • Proven ability and recent experience as a training instructor in the military.


  • Stage 5 range qualification (military), or equivalent.


  • Recent hands-on experience in managing people.


  • Recent experience of managing and working within a small team.
  • Excellent interpersonal communications and presentation skills.


  • Strong IT skills including proficiency in all MS Office programmes.


  • Strong administration skills, with the ability to manage numerous projects simultaneously while meeting exacting deadlines.


  • Strong candidate-facing skills, with ability to efficiently communicate with a wide range of clients/sub-contractors face-to-face, via phone and email.


  • Exemplary written and judgement skills.


  • Flexibility and resourcefulness.


  • A keen eye for detail.


  • Ability to work under pressure.

The following skills and experience are desirable for this role:

  • Previous and recent experience of the commercial security environment.
  • Previous experience of working in Iraq
  • Previous experience of working on Oil & Gas project sites and with O&G clients
  • Previous experience of working with and providing training and mentoring to local security forces
  • PTLLS qualified.
  • Previous experience within or understanding of an administration/coordination role.
  • Must be client focussed.
  • Sense of humour & patience.

The role will entail responsibility as follows:

  • Apply and implement a DSAT – Review, Design & Successful delivery of the training requirement.
  • Implement changes in response to the review.
  • Draft, develop and implement the Training Policy.
  • Implement and deliver accreditation for all courses.
  • Offer training advice and assistance to the client.
  • Identify, and fulfill, specific niche training requirements.
  • Provide and/or supervise on-site training to provide QA, compliance and adherence to Client H&SE standards.
  • Draft, develop and implement training SOPs, across the project, in conjunction with the Training Director.
  • Supervise the co-ordination of logistics for all training courses.
  • Management of the documentation produced for training outcomes.

Specific competencies:

  • Experience to define operational standards and associated training requirements
  • Wide ranging managerial experience
  • Ability to deliver specific training course design, implementation and evolution alongside associated project management
  • Ability to multitask in a pressure environment
  • High attention to detail
  • Ability to work alone/within a small team, with minimal supervision, but to achieve specified goals.
  • Excellent interpersonal and verbal/written communication skills.
  • IT literacy – ability to produce hiqh quality training material and client reports in various formats
