SA and 2 US Dyncorp employees killing in Jordan
Conrad Vaughn Whitehorn, the South African shot and killed in Jordan, was engaged to be married.
The American security company he worked for, DynCorp, said the 37-year-old was survived by his fiancée and his parents.
Whitehorn was killed at the Jordan International Police Training Center (JIPTC) on Monday when a shooter opened fire on personnel in the canteen of the compound on the outskirts of Amman, Jordan.
Five people were killed in the shooting spree and six injured.
Before joining DynCorp, Whitehorn, who hailed from Johannesburg, worked as a static security officer, close protection officer and security driver for a number of companies, the company said in a statement.
"Our colleagues gave their lives working on a programme designed to positively impact essential national security objectives in this vitally important region," Lou Von Thaer, chief executive officer of DynCorp International said.
"Our thoughts and prayers are with their families, friends and colleagues during this difficult time."
Another two DynCorp employees, both American, were also killed.
