Relocating just for experience
For those needing CP experience, international experience or even higher risk experience ; what do you think about relocating to another country for a while and work there as a local CPO ?
Of course I am talking purely about experience making... you can forget about money for a while.
Would the experience benefit ?
Many guys will tell me that the paperwork needed to relocate somewhere, especially when your job is to be a CPO, makes emigration virtually impossible. I would reply them that a good lawyer and good cash will bypass any law, especially in poor/emerging/violent countries.
Opinions ??

Re: Relocating just for experience
It will of course make sense to search for employment first with the mindset of 'no location ruled out'. Once employment is secured then the company/ individual employing will undoubtedly sort out the necessary paperwork.

Thanks Rich, much appreciated.
I was not thinking about it from that angle ; obviously, if someone is ready to hire you from abroad and sort out the paperwork, then you're already well established in the industry.
I was thinking tipically about someone with one or two domestic CP experiences under his belt, trying to get exposure to a different culture/language/risk level, which is a very important line on a CV. He would then have to relocate on his own and then start looking for employment, just like a local.
Obviously the pay would be low most probably. But wouldn' it be a good stepping stone ?

Re: Relocating just for experience
The big question is, why hire a foreigner instead of a local?
The local has local knowledge, already has paperwork and speaks the language fluently.

Re: Relocating just for experience
Definitely.
But :
- A foreigner is less likely to be corrupt or have pressure on his relatives
- The foreigner may have much better skills than the locals, especially if the average level of local bodyguards is abyssal... remember my vacation in summer '09 ?
