Algeria rejects David Cameron's offer of British help in hostage crisis
The Algerian government is refusing any offers of British help to resolve the hostage crisis, despite “intensive” efforts to persuade them to give the UK a role.
Any support would be likely to include the use of special forces and intelligence assets, although the government never officially comments on these activities.
Government sources indicated that there was frustration over Algeria’s refusal to accept assistance, amid concerns that efforts to free the hostages may fail.
David Cameron has held talks with the Algerian Prime Minister and Britain is applying pressure “at all levels of government”, sources said.
But the mission to rescue the hostages from the BP gas plant is expected to continue to be “Algerian-led”.
British diplomats are also seeking to apply pressure on Algeria through the French, who have closer historical ties with Algeria than the UK.

Re: Algeria rejects David Cameron's offer of British help in hostage crisis
Does anyone have any thoughts on why they would turn down such help?
